My Favourite Spring '17 Trends At London Fashion Week

My Favourite Spring '17 Trends At London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week gave us lots of colour, a myriad of asymmetrical hemlines and a tonne of clashing prints. Unlike New York, where many of the labels stuck to their signature looks, London designers were interested in producing different ideas, and creating game-changing pieces for Spring '17. Here are the five trends I loved from LFW.

1. The Single Earring / Mismatched Earrings

Earrings have been making headlines beyond the runways and amongst the fashion-set for a few seasons now, but Spring '17 will see bloggers, editors and fashion writers wearing mismatched earrings or singular ear pieces. At Simone Rocha, mismatched crystal earrings that represented key rings were popular on the runway. And on the JWAnderson runway, the models wore tiny silver bells and ear ornaments.

2. The Elongated / Statement Sleeve

London labels and stylists are having a lot of fun with shirt sleeves this season. They are rolling sleeves up, pulling sleeves down to expose the shoulders, deconstructing shirts to expose the midriff and adding embellishments wherever possible. Elongated sleeves that extend past the wrist are on-trend for Spring '17. And puffed, ruffled and studded sleeves are also in.

3. The Uneven Hem

Spring '17 is all about asymmetrical, jagged, frayed and uneven hemlines. The Handkerchief hemline has long been an obsession for JWAnderson, and this season he constructed a gorgeous dress made entirely of white Irish linen handkerchiefs. So divine. Johnny Coca at Mulberry played with jagged hems, and Mulberry designers, Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi, created hemlines that were reminiscent of the 90's.

4. Micro Floral Prints

During LFW many runways revealed small, intricate floral prints and dainty, feminine posies sprinkled across beautiful fabrics. So pretty and girly.

5. Primrose Yellow

Christopher Kane, Roksander and Jonathon Saunders all featured the most amazing buttery shade of bright yellow on the catwalk for Spring '17. When I saw this colour on the New York Fashion Week runways, I immediately knew that this bright hue would be THE shade of the season. It's the colour of happiness and sunshine. Stunning.
