Gigi Hadid For Wall Street Journal Magazine October 2016 Issue

At 21, Gigi Hadid already has quite a resume; jet-setting supermodel, Instagram 'It' Girl, fashion designer. She's made a career out of being the kind of bombshell-next-door model who can walk the Victoria's Secret runway one day, and front Tommy Hilfiger's fashion show the next. Hilfiger calls her 'effortless' and has cast Gigi in numerous ad campaigns and runway shows. He also made her the face of his new fragrance 'The Girl' and named her a global brand ambassador. "She's got great confidence, but not in an arrogant way," he says of Gigi. "The first time she modelled for me, we had 50 models in the show, and she was the first person to come up and say, 'Thank you very much for having me'. Let me tell you, that does not happen," he adds.

Gigi Hadid's ability to relate to the everyday girl alongside her reputation as a professional model is a big part of her success worldwide, Nowadays, in order to establish a 'brand'  it's all about recognising the importance of social media, and merging online success with actual modelling careers. "Success on Instagram happened so naturally for me," Hadid says of her 22 million subscribers. "I think Instagram started when I was a junior in high school... and it just happened to be the theme of our generation of models."

And the era of the 'Social-Media Supermodel' commenced. When Hadid started modelling and booking jobs, she and her mother (Yolanda Hadid/Foster) began a five-year career plan, which consisted of the four big Vogue covers (America, British, France, Italy), a Victoria's Secret runway show, a Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue and a clothing line. They called it 'The Five-Year Plan', which Gigi completed within two years. The last part came to fruition in September '16 with the launch of the collaborative collection that she designed with Hilfiger, called Tommy x Gigi. The super-stunner model says the collection is very "Tommy" with a few influential Gigi touches to give the pieces a more street-cred, cooler vibe.

Now that it's time for a new five-year plan, Hadid is taking her time. She's designing more (the Gigi boot - a collaboration with Stuart Weitzman - launches this Autumn), she likes acting, and being an avid foodie, she wouldn't mind hosting her own cooking show someday. "I'm open to anything," she says. "I think if you're good at what you do, and if you're a good person, a lot more opportunities come than you can plan for."

This photoshoot (entitled 'Spellbound') for the October 2016 Issue of the Wall Street Journal Magazine is exceptional and another successful spread for the blonde beauty. Gigi looks absolutely sensational, wearing a selection of Fall '16 pieces, including a stunning over-sized Balenciaga coat, a Valentino tulle skirt, and an amazing Hermes dress. These effortlessly glam and oh-so-dramatic outdoor images were captured by fashion photographers Inez & Vinoodh and styled by George Cortina. Love!
