Six Beauty Trends From The Fall '16 Couture Runways

The couture shows not only showcase the desires, creative dreams and future fashion-aspirations of the designers, but are also opportunities to plan next season's wardrobe. The elevated hair. The extreme makeup. They always go hand-in-hand with Haute Couture, but can also influence next season's looks, This year, from Versace's red glitter lips to Dior's exaggerated flicked cat eye, there were six beauty trends that looked fabulous on the runway, and will no doubt become inspiration for us all throughout 2016. Here they are...

1. Versace's Glittering Red Lips
Pat McGrath took a classic scarlet red lip and transformed it into a show-stopper statement using glitter pigments. The models looked modern and chic, walking the catwalk with lashings of mascara and glowing complexions. Lips were a definite a standout for Versace this season.

2. Chanel's High Haute Couture Curls
Inspired by the spectacular Grand Palais, Chanel featured towering curly bow-tied coifs, which elongated the models' necks as they gracefully swanned the runways. Karl Lagerfeld showcased soft, fluffy curls that lay on top of scooped-up hair liked a halo. High. Curly. And heavenly.

3. Dior's Extreme Cat Eye
We all love a good feline flick, but Christian Dior took this concept and made his cat eye elongated, exaggerated and thick across the upper and lower lash lines. The models' eyes were rimmed with inky black pigment that extended to the temples, paired with metallic gold eye shadow and nude lips to make the eyes pop.

4. Valentino's Gold Hair Bands
Valentino's hair stylist, Guido Palau was inspired by the Renaissance Era of Italy. And he used miniature gold bands to section and frame hair around the models' faces, which was then pulled back into a blunt-cut ponytail at the nape of their necks.

5. Fendi's Fur Hair Ribbons
Inspired by Alice In Wonderland, Fendi's stylist Sam McKnight created centre-parted ringlets, pulling the hair back into a half-up-half-down look and secured with fur hair ribbons. So pretty with a modern twist.

6. Giambattista Valli's Supernatural Skin
With embellished one-of-a-kind designs, high Victorian collars and ornate embroideries, Giambattista Valli concentrated on glowing radiant skin, with brushed-up brows and subtle, natural makeup.
