The Three Things I Do To Get A Good Night's Sleep

All my friends know that when I don't get my sleep I become so vague and ditsy. Yep, I'm that girl who needs her regular 8 hours of sleep every night. Without my sleep, I not only crave sugar and carbs (I have a major sweet tooth!) but I also get huge dark smudges under my eyes (which I hate!) and I am literally a zombie the next day. And 'zombie-mode' means my complexion doesn't have that naturally healthy glow. So if you have trouble sleeping, here are three things I do to ensure a good night's sleep.

As much as I love, love, love my coffee, I always cut off my intake of caffeine at 2pm. For a boost of energy in the afternoons, I eat fruit, drink lots of water (usually berries) or I make a green juice (which is filling but still keeps my stomach flat as a pancake. Love that). Alternatively, I take a shot of e3live algae supplement, which helps with digestion. And it takes great. You can buy it here.

If I'm particularly stressed, I occasionally take magnesium and valerian supplements. There is a powdered magnesium supplement called Natural Calm which really helps my body feel calm and mellow. The powder is raspberry-lemon flavour (tastes fab!) and helps me wind down before going to bed. Also valerian really improves the quality of my sleep, and actually reduces the time it takes for me to fall asleep. I alternate between the two supplements.

And finally, I turn off all social media approximately 1/2 hour before bed. Research proves that the UV lights via the laptop, ipad, iphone (etc) keeps the brain alert and awake. So I try to turn everything off and read in bed for a while.

Everyone has different techniques to get the perfect night's sleep, and these tips truly help me feel rested, relaxed and really happy.
