How I Get More Sleep And More Energy

How I Get More Sleep And More Energy

The key to more energy? More sleep! Getting around 7 - 8 hours of sleep strengthens the mind and body, brightens the complexion, stops those pesky coughs and colds from happening and makes you feel happier all round. Here's how I get a better night's sleep and feel more energised throughout the day...

1. I try to get a little bit done around the house a little bit each day. You know the drill... I stack the dishwasher, make the bed, get my outfit and lunch ready the night before. I also love freshly cleaned towels and sheets. I am naturally very untidy, and this help me feel organised and ready for the day ahead.
2. I take my vitamins in the morning. Multi-vitamins and B12 give you a great energy release, but can keep you awake at night. So, I make them part of my morning routine.
3. I have quit my afternoon coffee. I no longer have a venti latte after midday, and I've found that I sleep better at night. Protein is an excellent snack, so I have a yoghurt for a boost of energy in the afternoons.
4. I charge my mobile phone, laptop and ipad outside the bedroom at night. I find that this helps me relax when they are "out of sight, out of mind."
5. I write To Do lists all the time. Especially before I go to sleep. If I have something on my mind, I write it down, so that I can tackle it the next day, and not stress about it during the night.
 6. I have soft lighting in the bedroom that invites a relaxed good night's sleep. Bright lights can block melatonin (the hormone that makes us sleepy) and lamps create a cozier environment.
Have a beautiful day!
